Abstract: | This paper focuses on a specific content and language integrated learning (CLIL) programme where the additional language, Spanish, is also the heritage language (HL) of 25% of the students. Drawing on interview data, this paper focuses on students’ experiences and perceptions of this CLIL programme. The results are somewhat homogeneous; students have a high level of satisfaction with the bilingual subjects but express strong complaints about the lack of differentiation techniques in language classrooms. Accordingly, while this CLIL programme is overall very successful, with regard to HL maintenance and boosting students’ self-esteem, it has yet to achieve its full potential. |
