Abstract: | The present thesis deals with studies on boron-carbon-nitrides (B-C-N) and with the discovery of a novel boron oxynitride (B-O-N) phase. Polymer-derived amorphous B-C-N compounds are studied under high-pressure and high temperature (HP-HT) conditions in order to investigate the formability of crystalline ternary B-C-N phases. Furthermore, the potential capability of amorphous B-C-N compounds for their electrochemical performance as promising anode materials for Li-ion battery (LIB) is evaluated. Challenges of HP-HT synthesis of ternary B-C-N, hints towards novel BONs and the final discovery of a novel BON phase are discussed in detail. |
