Abstract:

Kupfer(I)-Koordinationspolymere überführt.

The purpose of this work was the introduction of sterically demanding substituents into kinetically labile copper(I)-containing polymers to find out whether ligand exchanging processes can be prevented by sterical interactions. Only such polymers should allow thorough analyses of their properties in diluted solutions with methods basing on concentration changes. A novel synthetic pathway to introduce substituents of different size into two different o-phenanthroline based types of polymers, i. e. metal complex and metal coordination polymers, could be developed. Dendrons of different branching degree and size were built up and used as sterically demanding substituents. Besides the synthesis of known benzyl ether Fréchet dendrons of first, second and third generation a novel synthesis could be achieved that led to dendrons with a 1 -> 3 branching point in the first generation. These novel dendrons could be synthesized up to the third generation, too. Palladium catalyzed coupling reactions after Suzuki allowed the syntheses of the metal-free basic components of the o-phenanthroline based metal complex and metal coordination polymers: a precursor polymer and a bis-bidentate ligand monomer. The reaction of these basic components with a copper(I) donor led to the designated copper(I) complex and copper(I) coordination polymers. The tetrahedrally coordinated copper(I) ions in these polymers form thermodynamically stable but kinetically labile complexes. The syntheses of soluble, dendronized copper(I) complex and copper(I) coordination polymers could be achieved in this work for the first time. Ligand exchange processes at the copper(I) complexes during crossover experiments could be monitored by 1H NMR spectroscopy. These experiments showed that an increase of the sterical demand of the dendrons led to a decrease of the complexation tendency of the concurring chelating ligands.
