    Abstract

    Die vorliegende Studie thematisiert die Arbeitsbeziehungen in der IT-Industrie. Ihr Gegenstand ist der Wandel der Arbeit sowie die Formen und Modi ihrer Regulation und des Interessenaustauschs in einem Wirtschaftssegment, dem mit Blick auf die Zukunft der Arbeit und der industriellen Beziehungen in der öffentlichen Diskussion paradigmatische Bedeutung zugesprochen wird. Die Bedingungen in diesem Wirtschaftssegment unterwerfen das System industrieller Beziehungen, so wie es sich in Deutschland herausgebildet hat, einem aufschlußreichen „Praxistest“. Die Studie ist als Explorativstudie angelegt. Sie richtet das Hauptaugenmerk auf die Unterschiede in den Arbeitsbeziehungen der Unternehmen und einzelnen Marktsegmente, leuchtet deren Hintergründe aus und kommt zu einer begründeten Typologie der Arbeitsbeziehungen in den Unternehmen der IT-Industrie. Insofern hat diese Studie zunächst den Charakter einer „Landvermessung“, um das Terrain zu erkunden, Problemstellungen und Entwicklungspfade in den unterschiedlichen Segmenten zu eruieren und die IT-Industrie als Ganze einer vertiefenden Forschung zugänglich zu machen. Darauf aufbauend wird auf der Basis der vorgelegten Befunde zu einigen zentralen Fragen der Zukunft der Arbeit und der Arbeitsbeziehungen Stellung genommen. Den Kern der Analyse bilden zwölf Unternehmensfallstudien, die im Zeitraum zwischen Sommer 1999 und Januar 2000 erhoben wurden.

    The central theme of this study are the industrial relations in the IT industry. Its subject is the change of work as well as the forms and modi of regulation and exchange of interests. In public discussions this economic sector is considered to be of paradigmatic importance for the future of work and industrial relations. The conditions in this economic sector confronts the German system of industrial relations in a sense with a practical check. This study is an explorativ study. It focusses mainly on the differences in the co-determination of the firms and individual market segments, it examines the backgrounds and comes to a well-founded typology of the working relations in the firms of the IT industry. In this respect the study has first of all the character of a „land surveying“: Exploring new grounds, investigating problems and developments in the different segments and opening the IT industry as a whole to extended research. On the basis of the presented results some of the central questions about the future of work and industrial relations will be commented. The core of the analysis consists of twelve case studies in firms, which where acertained in the period of time between summer 1999 and January 2000.English
