| Abstract: | Cycloadditions to the azulene system have not hitherto been observed. Instead, azulene reacts, e.g., with maleic anhydride via an "addition-substitution route" to give 1-azulenylsuccinic anhydride and with tetracyanoethylene to yield 1-tricy-anovinylazulene[¹]. |
