Abstract:

Molecular based magnets are a hot topic in current interdisciplinary research. In this work the realisation of such molecular based magnets is done via the one-dimensional linear chain approach. Substituted tetraphenylporphyrinatometal-complexes are bridged by two ligands in trans-position at the coordination octahedral building up the one dimensional linear chain structure. By means of static and dynamic magnetic susceptibility in combination with magnetisation and hysteresis measurements the magnetic properties of the manganese, iron, and vandyl complexes are characterised. Investigation of the magnetocirculardichroism (MCD) of selected compounds was used to verify a model for the cooperative magnetic phase which is known in literature for this type of compounds. The existence or non-existence of a cooperative magnetic phase is explained by structural differences of the investigated compounds.
