Abstract:

The concept of the capacitive direct current injection was presented in previous papers. The aim is to test HVDC equipment simultaneously with e.g. ±422 kV DC and 3150 A DC. First prototypes based on the concept showed good service experience, so that a generator with rated values 660 kV and 5000 A was built. This contribution presents the final overall assembly of this generator and its technical details. First long-term service experience with this concept was gained during a trial run of the test equipment with ±422 kV and 3150 A. This generally proves that such generators can be implemented for high equipment ratings and that reliable operation is possible. Further commissioning of the generator to its rated values of 660 kV and 5000 A is planned for the future.
