Abstract: | The high competitive pressure in the aero-engine market demands higher quality products in shorter time at lower costs. In order to achieve this, a close integration of the product lifecycle with early design stages is necessary. Decisions made in design have an impact on later lifecycle areas like manufacturing and aftermarket, which a design may not foresee without the relevant information. This leads to avoidable iterations in the product development process. This paper illustrates a concept for a design decision support system on feature level. Key knowledge of different design domains is provided within the available design systems during the product development phases. |
