Kurzbeschreibung (Abstract)

In response to the upcoming 2027 implementation of the new UNR48-09 regulation, which mandates automatic headlight leveling for almost all passenger cars in Europe, this paper presents a fully software-based solution developed by COMPREDICT GmbH. The proposed system introduces an AI-based Virtual Sensor for automatic headlight leveling, capable of operating both statically and dynamically. At the heart of the innovation is a Virtual Sensor designed to estimate the vehicle's pitch angle using AI-driven data analysis, eliminating the need for costly hardware sensors typically used in existing systems. By leveraging readily available vehicle data, this solution ensures the performance of traditional hardware-based systems while providing a cost-effective alternative. By integrating this virtual headlight leveling sensor, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) can ensure compliance with the new regulation while significantly reducing costs at scale.
