Speaker’s bio
Anett-Maud Joppien is co founder and partner of Dietz Joppien Architects AG in Frankfurt, Berlin, and Potsdam. She is a full professor of design and building technology at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Department of Architecture, where she currently also acts as dean. Prof. Joppien studied Architecture at TU Berlin and TH Darmstadt, where she gained her diploma, at University of Illinois Chicago and University of California, Berkeley (where she gained a M.Arch). She has held professorships at the University of Hannover and the Bergische Universität Wuppertal. Her research and teaching activities focus on sustainable architecture, including the award winning project on energy suffi cient student housing CUBITY. She has been committee member in 220 plus architecture competitions, acts as the jury member for the European Solar Prize and is vice president of the German Association for sustainable building (DGNB).
The Urban Health Games research group (UHG) of the Department of Architecture hosted the 1st International workshop on Universal Design in urban mobility systems. UHGs’ research and teaching activities focus on people-centred urban design in building new collaborations between urban designers, health and mobility experts to address global challenges such as inclusion, active lifestyles and Access for All.
