Abstract:

Abstract: In this Ph. D. thesis, synthesis methods which are common for the preparation of phosphates with open framework structures should be used for the system of metal-borophosphates. The new compounds in this thesis were prepared from reactive gels under hydrothermal or solvothermal conditions in a temperature range of 100–170 °C. The crystal structures were determined from X-ray single crystal data and for isotypic compounds from powder data using the Rietveld-method. The thermal decomposition behaviour was evaluated with methods of thermal analysis combined with X-ray powder diffractometry. Additional informations concerning the coordination of cobalt ions were obtained from vis spectra and measurement of temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibilities. The new borophosphates can be classified into three groups concerning their crystal structures: metallo-borophosphates a–NH4[(Zn1-xCox)BP2O8] (0 £ x £ 0.14) and b–NH4[ZnBP2O8]; {(NH4)0.5Co1.25}(H2O)2[BP2O8]·0.5H2O (NHCo–1 and NHCo–2); diamine-template-containing metal-borophosphates MII(C2H10N2)[B2P3O12(OH)] (MII=Mg, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn), MII(C4H12N2)[B2P3O12(OH)] (MII=Co, Zn), Zn3(C6H14N2)3[B6P12O39(OH)12]·(C6H14N2)[HPO4]. The first group of compounds is characterized by anionic frameworks, which are built up by corner sharing tetrahedra. The framework topology of a–NH4[(Zn1-xCox)BP2O8] (0 £ x £ 0.14) is identical with that of the zeolite gismondine, wheras the framework of b–NH4[ZnBP2O8] is related with the anionic frameworks of the feldspars. The compounds of the second group are new varieties of a family of borophosphate-hydrates, exhibiting a helical onedimensional infinite anionic ribbon. the crystal structures of the diamine-template-containing borophosphates are built up by similar secondary building units and can be classified by the concept of hierachical structural relationships to NaCl- and NbO-type, respectively.
