Abstract:

Starting from an analysis of haptic perception, a classification of terms and the identification of the medical area a task is formulated, to design a system assisting during catheterization. The system measures forces a the tip of a guide-wire with a diameter of 0.33 mm. These forces are coupled back haptically to the medic staff at the same guide-wire. The system is an electromechanical unit consisting of actuator, force-sensor and control circuit. As a result from DFG science funding the whole development has been splitted into three subtasks. In this document the structure, the systematic analysis of the task and the analysis of the vessels are emphasized. Additonally the technical demands on the actuation unit is discussed in detail. To make the formulation of the mechanical properties of the user possible, a novel method named ForceImpression (FIP) is introduced. It allows quantification of the haptic impression generated with haptic interfaces in general and independent from this specific work. Beside these specifications for all technical problems a first design for the assistance system has been developed, built and analyzed. To measure forces an optical sensor is proposed. For the haptic device an optimized electronically commuated actor has been desigend.
