Abstract:

Subject of this thesis is the synthesis and characterization of well defined, rod-like ruthenium (II) coordination polymers. Particularly, the relation between their constitution and their solubility was examined. At first, such coordination polymers were synthesized, which had been built up by ruthenium (II) complexes consists of five nitrogen ligands and one carbon ligand. The constitution of the polymer material was prouved with 1H- and 13C NMR-spectroscopy and the degree of polymerization was appreciated to be over 25. An important feature is the application of DMAc (N,N´-dimethylacetamide), which is a good solvent for the used components. Moreover, activated ruthenium(III)ions reacted with an appropriate ligand monomer to create {RuN6}-coordination polymers. To understand the poly-complex formation, its reaction was investigated by kinetic methods, combined with size exclusion chromatography. This allowed a determination of apparent molecular weights in dependency of their degree of conversion. At last, all synthesized polymers were investigated by means of UV/Vis absorption spectroscopy and their optical behaviour was compared with selected model compounds.
