Abstract:

Vibration control or isolation is of interest for many applications where for example disturbance forces are induced due to unbalanced masses of rotating machines. Conventionally these problems are solved through passive vibration isolation or compensation by means of elastomer or fluidic mounts or vibration neutralizers. Because of conflicting demands for static and dynamic loads these elements can usually not be designed to meet all necessary operating points or a time varying frequency of the disturbance. Different approaches exist for the active vibration reduction by means of feedforward or feedback control. In this conjunction adaptive vibration compensation based on the Filtered-Reference-Least-Mean-Squares algorithm for multivariable systems can achieve a good performance in terms of the vibration reduction.

The application of active systems is often limited by the high computational effort of the signal processing and control algorithms. Furthermore for the integration of an adaptronic system rarely modular and to the different applications scalable signal processing platforms exist. Thus an objective of this work is the investigation of an intelligent sensor-actuator-network for system identification and adaptive vibration compensation. A major task is the adaptation and extension of the algorithms.

The initial evaluation of appropriate methods is based on a simplified numerical model of an active mount whereas possible topologies for multichannel distributed and adaptive vibration compensation are discussed and also the meshing of adaptive vibration compensation and decentralized control is investigated. The convergence and stability properties of the meshed system are analyzed. For the system identification of parametric models of the transfer matrix of the mechanical system methods based on adaptive transversal filters and narrowband adaptive linear combiners can be used that allow a significant reduction of the computational effort. Since for the implementation of the adaptive vibration compensation usually no exact estimation of the reference frequency is available and also the bandwidth of the data transmission medium for the sensor-actuator-network is limited, these factors are also taken into account, as well as the compensation of disturbances with variable frequency and with multiple harmonic components.

Based on the results of the numerical investigations the methods are implemented on a rapid control prototyping system and a network of embedded digital signal controllers for the experimental investigation. The performance of the different methods as well as the implementation of the two variants is examined in terms of the quality of the achieved vibration compensation and the necessary computational effort for processing of the algorithms.
