| Abstract: | In his address at the “Benzene Festival” of the German Chemical Society held at Berlin in 1890, Kekulé said: “Our present view do not stand, as has often been alleged, on the ruins of earlier theories. None of the earlier theories has been recognized as completely wrong by later generations; divested of certain unpleasant ornaments, they could all be incorporated into the later edifice and form a harmonious whole”. |
