Abstract:

Synthetic fuels, among other things, are being discussed as possible CO2-neutral energy sources as part of the mobility transition. A potential fuel are oxymethylene ethers (OME), which have good combustion properties and a significant reduction in soot formation. Therefore it can be used as a replacement for conventional diesel from fossil sources. The heteropolyacid phosphotungstic acid has proven to be a powerful catalyst for the synthesis of these OME. The aim of this work is to immobilize this soluble salt and to describe it kinetically such as to determine the reaction parameters. Application to a solid support (TiO2) and proton exchange with large cations (Cs+) were used as immobilization methods. The synthesized catalysts were characterized and their influencing factors examined. A kinetic description of the three catalysts used has been prepared. The phosphotungstic acid applied to titanium dioxide could be tested in a continuous reaction mode.
