Abstract:

Alternative AbstractLanguage

Within the scope of this work, the efficiency of oxyimides as halogen-free flame retardants for polyolefins is shown. Both, the mode of action of oxyimides in general, with varying properties in terms of melting and decomposition temperatures is considered, as well as the interaction of these with different classes of flame retardant synergists, such as organophosphorus compounds. Since the properties of the matrix material, such as flowability or degree of branching, have significant impact on the performance of this system, they are considered in detail. In conclusion, the knowledge gained about the mode of action and the interaction of the oxyimides and the synergists allows a significant increase in the performance of the system.
