Abstract:

Alternative AbstractLanguage

This doctoral dissertation examines the interplay of the content, construction and communication components in E-Learning arrangements and their relationship to the quality of knowledge transfer. By comparing the discussion forum postings of the students with the knowledge content of the learning module, knowledge that was omitted, presupposed or not readily accessible in the learning module could be ascertained. An innovative method based on the propositional and illocutive structure was developed for the analysis. With this level of abstraction, the results of this study as they relate to the quality of knowledge transfer can be generalised to apply to other E-Learning courses.
