Abstract:

Within this doctoral thesis "Synthesis und charakterization of lipophilic and hydrophilic porphyrin complexes of some noble metals, especially platinum" two new types of lipophilic platinum(IV) tetraaryl or octaethyl porphyrinates were synthesized. On one hand the biscarboxylato complexes with acetates or propionates as axial ligands, which can be made by oxidation of the also synthesized platinum(II) porphyrinates with hydrogen peroxide and carbonic acid anhydrides; on the other hand the mixed ligand complexes with N-carboximidates and hydroxide as axial ligands, which can be obtained by the hydrolysis of aliphatic nitriles with hydrogen peroxide. These compound were charakterized by UV/Vis-, IR- and NMR-spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and cyclic voltammetry. In addition derivatives of this two types were crystallized and the structures were determined by X-ray structure determination. These two structures are the first for platinum(IV) porphyrinates. New synthetic pathways for some watersoluble noble metal porphyrinates of the anionic tetrakis-4-sulfonatophenylporphyrin were developed. The HPLC-experiments with the tetrapotassium-[tetrakis-(4-sulfonatophenylporphyrinato)platinum(II)] showed besides the known, in one beta-position of one benzolic ring substituted product a large number of byproducts. The amount of impurities in relation to the main product is between 10 and 15 %. With the isolation of platinum(IV) porphyrinates of the anionic tetrakis-4-sulfonatophenylporphyrin these compounds were charakterized in a watersoluble form and the behavior to hydrogen peroxide at different pH-values and in the presence of nitriles was tested. For the first time solvates of the tetrakis-4-sulfonatophenylporphyrin were crystallized from DMSO / toluene. Solvates of the platinum(II)- and the aluminium(III)-derivate were obtained. Both crystal structures show interesting connections between alkali cations and porphyrinate. Tetrapotassium-[tetrakis-(4-sulfonatophenylporphyrinato)platinum(II)] crystallizes by building up dimers in a three dimensional coordination of the potassium ions. Dipotassium-sodium-[tetrakis-(4-sulfonatophenylporphyrinato)-bis-(dimethylsulfoxide)aluminium(III)] shows a layer structure with clusters formed by one sodium and two potassium ions. With these crystal structures the structural data can be correlated with the spectroscopic results.
